14-year-old Girl Raped, Brother Burned Alive in Bertoua

A 14-year-old girl, Tracy Oseyan, is fighting for her life at the Bertoua Regional Hospital after unidentified individuals brutally raped and battered her Wednesday January 9, 2025.

Tragically, the same ordeal befell her 16-year-old brother, Delze John, a Form 5 student of GHS Mokolo 4. The hoodlums killed him and burned his body.

The attack occurred in the Mokolo Dernier Porto neighborhood, leaving the family and community devastated.

Tracy, found severely injured, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

“She arrived in an altered state of consciousness and underwent immediate surgical intervention,” said Dr. Pwepe Maleng, a surgeon at the Betoua Regional Hospital.

Her condition is now clinically stable, but her road to recovery remains uncertain.

Karine Akombo, a family member, recounted the harrowing moments when she rushed the young girl, Tracy to the hospital.

“She was bleeding profusely and seemed very tired. She had to undergo surgery on her private parts and was given a pint of blood due to severe blood loss.”

The body of Delze John, burnt beyond recognition, lies at the hospital mortuary.

Initial reports suggest the siblings were attacked in their plank house before Delze was killed and set ablaze.

The heinous act has sparked outrage and sorrow in the local community, with many demanding justice.

Meanwhile, law enforcement officers have launched an investigation to uncover the perpetrators and motives behind this gruesome crime.

The police are piecing together evidence to ensure justice is served for the young victims and their grieving family.
