An 18-year-old student is said to have died during child delivery in Douala, Littoral Region, following complications during delivery.
The deceased, known simply as Brenda, is said to be a Probatoire student, and died at the Nylon District Hospital in Douala, alongside her baby.
According to reports, Brenda and her mother kept the pregnancy from her father, Jean-Paul, and as well failed to do prenatal visits which according to doctors, led to complications.
When told of the demise of Brenda and the baby, the baffled father was unsure what baby the mother was referring to when the latter opened up and narrated the whole truth.
Angered, Jean-Paul took out a machete with which he attacked Brenda’s mother, leaving her severely injured.
While the mother is currently receiving treatment at the hospital, Brenda’s corpse has been deposited at the mortuary, pending burial.
