Woman arrested for sexual abuse
A 45-year-old woman whose identity has been disclosed as Pauline Ebongson has been jailed for the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old boy in Kumba, Meme division of the South West region.
Pauline had reportedly been having an affair with the young boy until May 25, 2024, when the abominable act was uncovered.
The 14-year-old whose name has not been disclosed for security and ethical reasons narrates that it was not the first time Pauline was doing that to him.
“Whenever we get to Mummy Pauline’s house, we assist her in doing some chores as she always buys us something to eat,” the victim said recalling that on May 24, she lured him into the house and sent away the other kids. She asked me to inhale a substance just for me to discover myself naked with her on me”
According to the victim’s mother, “I came back that evening and did not know where he was. A neighbour went to Pauline’s house to beg for a sponge but Pauline refused to open her door. The neighbour peeped into the house from a hole and caught Pauline in the act”
A distress call was raised, attracting neighbours to the scene.
Pauline, eyewitness accounts say, confessed to the actions.
Sounding unapologetic, the 45-year-old, supported by her husband, said she wanted the young boy “to satisfy her sexually and put her in a family way because her husband can neither satisfy nor impregnate her.”
Following the intervention of a rights group, Pauline Ebongson was arrested and brought before the State Counsel of Meme.
“They are internally displaced persons who came from a village in Ndian and sought refuge in Kumba. The boy who is abused says she uses a spray which makes him go off after inhaling,” Bikang Ernest, Director of Global Forum for the Defence of Human Rights, told My Media Prime Television.
However, the woman who was caught in the act by the population denied it before the state counsel, saying that “It is rather the little boy that has been touching her breasts and buttocks which has been going on for a week.”
Pauline has reportedly been detained for further investigations.
The recent happening has left the neighbourhood in uncertainty and fear, as inhabitants fear for their children.
