A man-turned ‘slave’ in Yaounde by a woman wants to return home 18 years after

A concerned Cameroonian has reached out to Mimi Mefo Info to report about the state of a 40-year-old man who has been turned into a ‘slave’ by a lady in Yaounde.

Konyui Henry, the victim, is said to have recounted how he left his Nso village in the North West Region when he was barely 22, travelled to Yaounde, and has not been able to trace his steps back to the villages and meet his family.

“Even if he wanted to, he could not dare because he has no identification document, no money, no phone, and no contact,” Walters, who suddenly saw him in Yaounde, told MMI.

Henry explained his worry to Walters and said he needed help to get back to his family.

“While here in Yaounde, with the woman, he washes clothes, fetches water, splits wood, cooks, and takes care of the woman’s children,” Henry told Walters. Henry told Walters that he wanted MMI to release his story so that his family in Nso could locate him and come for him.

“Please, MMI, I saw this guy called Konyui Henry in a small village in Yaounde. He is in his early forties. He has spent about 18 years there under hostage in a woman’s hands. He says he wants to return to his biological family but has no way to reach out to anyone. Konyui Henry says he left for Yaounde years ago and started working for this woman in the capacity of housekeeper. He was fetching water, cooking, and raising her kids, but right now, he is tired and wants to return home.” Henry said.

He again gave more information about himself. He revealed that he hails from the Vijam quarter in Nkar, Nso. He said his father is called Tamyongoran, and his mother is called Rabiaye.

“My brothers and sisters are called Banadzem, Drelamu, Benaka, Sheyui, and Lemnyui,” he said, adding that “please, the spellings might not be perfect.” “I want to return to my family, so that i will not be a ‘slave’ for forever under this woman,” Henry concluded.
