Woman from Central African Republic found dead in Bertoua

On August 22, 2023, Residents in Bertoua, East Region, Cameroon, woke up to a shocking discovery.

The body of a woman was found on the road near the Women Empowerment Centre in the Bertoua I Subdivision of the Lom and Djerem Division. It took several hours for locals to identify her, but it is still unclear how she died.

The judicial police officials arrived at the scene to carry out investigations after being tipped off by the neighbours.

According to reports, the 40-year-old lady is from the neighbouring Central African Republic. According to sources cited, the woman may have been murdered elsewhere before being dumped where she was discovered.

Her body was taken to the hospital and handed over to the family for burial.

She was immediately buried according to Muslim tradition, pending investigations.
