Abakwa Boys present amputee football trophy in Bamenda

Abakwa Boys AFC from the Northwest region of Cameroon, champions of the maiden edition of Cameroon Amputee National Football League dubbed CANAFL 2020 have presented their trophy to the press, Wednesday August 11, 2021.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, the coordinator of Amputees in the North West region, Fon Dieudonne disclosed that their journey to being crowned champions was characterised by a lot of obstacles.

Despite the obstacles, he is happy the Abakwa Boys AFC team was able to win all four matches to emerge champions.

On his part, the Director of the CBC Health Services, represented by Awa Jacques Chirac, reassured the Amputees of the constant support of the CBC Health Services.

Abakwa Boys AFC emerged champions after beating rivals of the South West region SWAMPUTEE AFC 3#1 at the Vishi Higher Institute Bonaberi, Douala.

Considered as a finals, both sides appeared for the encounter with nine points each in three games though Abakwa Boys led the league with a difference of one goal.

SWAMPUTEE AFC opened scores from a direct strike by Ndifor Joel who doubles as the captain of the team. The goal destabilised the defence line of the Bamenda based club.

Fortunately for them they recuperated play, and mounted much pressure on their opponent leading to an equalizer from NKam Elvis.

Fon Dieudonne followed suit with a Brace ending the first segment of the game 3#1 in favour of Abakwa Boys AFC.

Fon Dieudonne of Abakwa Boys AFC emerged one of the top scorers with five goals.

The Cameroon Amputee team is currently preparing to represent the country at the African Amputee Championship to take place in Tanzania.

The national coach regretted that, team has received very little support from the government but hopes that things will be better this year.
