Aboubakar-Billong Match fixing case: FECAFOOT stands by Cameroonian duo

The Cameroonian Football Federation, FECAFOOT has issued a release in favour the two Cameroonian Internationals plying their trade in Turkey, who are under scrutiny for alleged match fixing.

FECAFOOT has criticised the Turkish media who have maligned the two players despite not having valid proof of crime as is being claimed.

“FECAFOOT is outraged by the weaknesses and the emptiness of the accusations directed towards the two players, which are not based on any evidences… Vincent Aboubakar and Jean Claude Billong are two Indomitable Lions who have always been characterized by remarkable sporting behaviour and irreproachable ethics,” stated the communiqué.

“FECAFOOT has total confidence in the two players and gives them all its support in the face of the difficulty they are facing.”

Vincent Aboubakar and Jean Claude Billong had been accused by the Turkish media of having orchestrated a match fixing between Aboubakar’s Beşiktaş FC and Billong’s Hatyaspor.

It was widely reported that Aboubakar had asked Billong to have a bad game and ensure Beşiktaş won the game and that in return he would intercede for him to get selected for the national team.
