Abuse of Power: Government officials use state vehicles for campaign

The past days have ushered a new atmosphere nationwide as campaigns ahead of the February twin elections have kicked off. With the campaign process ongoing, some state officials have been accused of using state vehicles for political campaigns for the ruling CPDM party. To carry out this act, some have resorted to covering the number plate to hide their improper and illegal use of state logistics.Since the start of the campaign, many have also pointed out the fact that only state officials and pro government supporters are being given escorts to the troubled Anglophone regions and those of opposition parties left to fend for themselves. These some say are part of vicious tactics to ensure the victory of the ruling CPDM party especially in areas highly contested. The twin elections holds February 9 2020 amid boycott by other opposition parties in Cameroon. They have cited bad electoral laws and the escalating armed conflict in Anglophone regions.
