After Fresh Boko Haram Attacks, Minister Beti Assomo expected in Far North Region

The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in Charge of Defense, Joseph Beti Assomo is expected in the Far North Region today for a working visit.

The announcement of his visit was made yesterday in a communiqué by the Defense Ministry. It says the minister will be going to the region on the high instructions of the Head of State.

His visit also comes after a series of insurgent attacks by the notorious Boko Haram sect that has spread terror throughout the region for over a decade now.

Attacks in recent weeks have seen at least 13 soldiers killed in surprised raids. The Defense Minister’s visit is to assess for himself the level of security in the region and to see how much improvement is needed by the Defense forces to boost the security levels of the region.
