Agbor Balla calls out government, blames State Defense Forces Over Ngarbuh Massacre

There has been increasing pressure from home, over government silence on the recent killings in Ngarbuh, Donga Mantung division in the restive North-West region of Cameroon.

With the death toll increasing by the day alongside property damaged, many are questioning why the government has vehemently refused to even comment on the barbaric act carried out by soldiers.

Renowned Human rights lawyer, Nkongho Felix Agbor is one of those to voice out his thoughts, calling for an investigation into the killings. He accused government soldiers of carrying out the attack on civilians.

“The gruesome murder of 27 civilians including women and children by the State Defense Forces on 14 February 2020 in Ngarbuh, Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region in Cameroon must be investigated and the perpetrators of such egregious crimes brought to justice,” he says.

Agbor Balla’s call comes after a similar call from Akere Muna who also criticised the killings. Days back, government soldiers raided the village leaving houses and property damaged and over 35 dead.

Among the dead were women and children. The victims have been laid to rest in a mass grave. The armed conflict in the West African nation’s Anglophone region has deepened since the start of this year after President Biya threatened to crush separatists who refuse to drop their arms.
