By David Atangana

Indigenes and friends of Akum village in the Mezam Division North West region of Cameroon have announced the holding of an international convention under the banner of the Akum Welfare Association UK (AWA-UK) UK.

The four days event has been scheduled to hold from June 30 to July 3rd, 2023 at Cavendish Banqueting, Colindale, London NW9 5AE, in the United Kingdom of Great Britain.

Holding under the aegis of the Fon of Akum, HRH Fon George Ndikum II, who will be present, the convention will provide a rare opportunity for sons and daughters of Akum to meet and chart a new course for their village.

Fundraising, MMI gathered, is also envisaged during the convention to support orphans and displaced children from Akum.

According to a program circulated by the organising committee, “The purpose of the convention is to invite all Akum sons and daughters and friends across the globe to join us celebrate our culture and traditions.”

“This convention will be one of the most important gatherings to be held in the UK for the Akum people (Small London). It will be the first time that most of us who have not been able to go back to the village over the past years due to the struggle will meet up. It will be an opportunity to discuss issues that affect us and our village,” the circulated information reads further.

The event is hosted under the auspices of the President General of AWA, Pius Tumasang Esq, and the President of AWA UK, Tanyi Charles Mambo.
