Al-Hilal makes bide for Kylian Mbappe
By Washira Helene
Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal have made a world-record bid of £259 million for Paris Saint-Germain and France forward Kylian Mbappe.
The offer, which is reportedly worth £150m in transfer fees and £109m in wages, would make Mbappe the highest-paid player in the world.
Mbappe, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, is out of contract at PSG at the end of the season. He has so far refused to sign a new contract with the Ligue 1 club.
Al-Hilal are hoping to lure Mbappe to the Middle East with the promise of a lucrative contract and the chance to play in the Champions League.
The club, which is owned by the Saudi Arabian government, has already won the AFC Champions League twice in the past three years.
It is unclear whether Mbappe would be interested in a move to Al-Hilal. However, the offer is certainly a tempting one, and it could be enough to convince him to leave PSG.
Mbappe still has a year remaining on his contract and PSG would be keen to sell him now or risk having him leave the club at the end of next season as a free agent.
