Alleged child kidnapper arrested in Yaoundé

The culprit who goes by the name Yannick Olinga was arrested in the Anguissa neighborhood in Yaoundé after he was discovered to be responsible for the disappearance of children in the neighborhood. The young thug had taken it upon himself to raise some money for himself through this method.

According to reliable sources, Yannick Olinga, who only recently decided to indulge in the kidnapping, was unsuccessful on his first attempt as he was almost apprehended before he could make proceeds from the crime. It however did not deter him. He would reportedly lock these children in a hotel room, then write a note which he would then drop at their residences.

Upon interrogation by the Public Security Commissioner for Nkoldongo Ngeun Sany, Yaoundé, Yannick Olinga said he decided to indulge in kidnapping so as to improve his financial situation. “I took the children because I needed a little money. I had written a little note which I intended to give to the children’s family to inform them that it was me who was holding their children and that they had to pay 50,000FCFA to get them back,” he confessed.

Following the arrest of Yannick Olinga, the security agents in the Anguissa neighborhood have warned that parents be extra careful with whom they let their children interacted. Commissioner Ngeun Sany made particular reference to kids between 3-4 years old who are sent on errands, as he seems they may well be primary targets of such criminals.
