A soldier said to be in a state of drunkenness is reported to have shot two boys in the leg in Wum, Menchum division of the North West Region of Cameroon.
The boys whose name we got as Noel and Nelson were aged 16 and 17 respectively.
They were reportedly apprehended on January 1, 2023, by the gendarme, called Agbor after accusing them of being separatist fighters.
“He made them sit on the ground before telling them that they are suspicious,” a source revealed, adding that: “the teenagers didn’t have time to defend themselves when the man in uniform used his firearm to shoot them in the legs.”
According to the officer’s colleagues, the incident was a result of the drunken state of the latter.
The boys are currently receiving medical attention at the Wum district hospital while awaiting transfer to Bamenda.
