Separatist fighters are reported to have Tuesday February 1 attacked and set ablaze a military post in Bali Nyonga, Mezam division in Cameroon’s crisis-ruined North West region.
The Military post popularly call ‘Court Yard’ found around the Bali Fon’s Palace is said to have been playing host to the Court and the Bali Council.
But locals said, Amba fighters accessed the place under unclear circumstances Tuesday and razed it to ashes. It is not clear if the soldiers were overpowered by the separatist fighters. It is also not known if they were not or on duty at the time of the attack.
We are yet to get information as to whether casualties were recorded on both sides or not.Videos have gone viral on the social media showing some buildings at the court yard on fire including the Bali Community Hall, the Court and the Bali Council premises.
The area has always been described by many as a “rape center” for soldiers. “They would detain people there and when their wives and other female relatives come to visit, they will be raped by the soldiers,” a source told MMI. Our eyes and ears are still on the ground for more information.
