A senior taxation official, Mvogo Emile, who is head of the Regional Tax Center in the Centre region rubbed into the Anecdote Group tax crisis has been remanded in custody at the Kondengi prison in Yaounde.
A judge is said to have remanded Mvogo in custody after the President Director General, PDG of the Anecdote Group, Jean Piere Amougou Belinga filed a complaint against her.
Yaounde-based Vision4 Television owned by Amougou Belinga has aired several reports in which, it accused Mvogo of attempting to extort the sum of 500 million FCFA from the Anecdote Group.
The Directorate General of Taxes, recent freezed some accounts of the Anecdote Group over what it said were unpaid taxes amounting to over 17 billion FCFA. The accounts were only opened after the Minister of Finance, Louis Paul Motaze instructed the tax officials to unblock them pending further findings.
Mvogo Emile, who happens to be wife of CCameroon Radio Television, CRTB journalist, has already spent two days behind bars.
