Anglophone Crisis: Bui SDO browbeats Mbiame Fon for patronizing Separatists

By Soulemanu Buba

The Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Bui, Meyong Gilbert Sunday, has signed a “warning letter” addressed to the traditional ruler of Mbiame in Bui Division, in the restive North West Region of Cameroon.

The letter which was signed on the 16th of June brought out some areas where the administrative official found fault with the traditional authority.

Gilbert Sunday warned His Royal Highness Fon Nwe II, to amend his ways and stop any form of collaboration with “Amba terrorists” or face the consequences of his action.

“You have never taken part in any public activity organized in Mbiame, especially the installation of the Divisional Officer of Mbiame on August 25, 2023, not far from your palace, the SDO said.

“You entertain an intimate relationship with enemy forces. On the 14 of June, Amba terrorists moved around your palace and warned all Mbororo people to come out massively and welcome you on your return from the USA else they will face their wrath. The population that escorted you from Mbonso to your palace in Mbiame was headed by terrorists,” He added

The DO also accused the Fon of allegedly providing information on the movement of defense and security forces to those he described as terrorists and also “masterminding the kidnapping of civilians in order to share in the booty.”

When the Brigade commander for Mbiame was assassinated, the Fon did not show any sign of sympathy or concern, the administrator say.

He furthered that the killing of two police officers around his palace on June 15 was a clear indication that he wines and dines with the terrorists.

Of late, Cameroon administrative officials especially Senior Divisional Officers (SDO) and Divisional Officers (DOs) have been on the neck of traditional authorities.

The case of the SDO of Menchum, Abdoullahi Alliou is still fresh on the minds of Cameroonians after he signed a document inviting those interested in the ESU vacant throne to drop their applications at his office.

ESU is a village in the Menchum Division of the North West Region of Cameroon whose Fon was murdered recently.

Many have described the recent outing by the administrative officials as a new form of attack against the traditional authorities of Anglophone Cameroon all in a bid to force them to submission.
