Anglophone Crisis: Cameroon Soldiers Arrest Hundreds In Bambui Market

Hundreds of traders including old women, nursing mothers and their children have been tortured and arrested in Bambui, Tubah SubDivision, North West Region of Cameroon by the Cameroon Military, Friday, September 24, 2021.

Reports say they stormed the market, heavily armed beating people and forcing some in to their vans and taken to the Tubah Gendarmerie where many say they would be extorted as usual.

We gathered that, the soldiers asked the traders why they did not sell on the lockdown days imposed by Ambazonia separatist fighters only to emerge today.

A soya vendor told this reporter that all his soya was consumed by the soldiers who forced him to watch at gun point.

The recent crackdown on the population is coming days after the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defense, Joseph Beti Asomo was in Bamenda where he called on the population to collaborate with the military for the return of peace.
With this kind of treatment meted on the population, many are asking whether such collaboration can ever happen.

It should be noted that many security checkpoints mounted by the Cameroon military around the town of Bamenda and beyond were also deserted making many think that they too were observing the lockdown operation.

Many government offices did not open their doors when the town was locked down.
