Anglophone Crisis: Government 2.8 billion FCFA monthly assistance to CDC revealed

Minister Louise Paul Motaze revealed that the state has been issuing financial assistance to the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC) since it got affected by the present socio-political unrest in the Anglophone regions.

The assistance of over 2.8 billion issued by the state has been purposely aimed at helping the corporation pay its workers.

The minister disclosed this information yesterday as he answered questions in Parliament pertaining to discrepancies concerning the execution of the 2019 state budget. The statements of the minister are contradictory to the situation at the Corporation.

In the past months, there have been sporadic massive protests amongst the workers of the CDC. Workers have complained bitterly that they’re owed several months of salary.

Just over a month ago, workers of the Corporation were on a strike in Limbe for 20 months unpaid salaries. In Tiko too, workers have had sit-in strikes and public demonstrations over the same issue of unpaid salaries.
