Anglophone Crisis: Three ‘missing’ Kondengui detainees found at dreaded SED

Over three months after being whisked off from the Kondengui Central Prison in Yaounde, three Anglophone detainees have been found by their loved ones.

Tita Tebid, Fonge John, and Achesit Hamlet, all detained in connection to the armed conflict in the Anglophone regions on October 13, were declared missing by their fellow inmates.

After months of searching and silence from authorities, their loved ones finally traced them to the Central Service for Judicial Investigation at the Secretary of State for Defense (SED).

Before this, the inmates had spent four years at the prison known for overcrowding and distasteful living conditions.

They had been charged with many crimes including secession, acts of terrorism. Four months after their extraction from Kondegui to SED, one of the inmates, Tita Tebid alias Congressman has called on the authorities to explain, as a formal charge still to be levied on them.

Like many other detainees, Tebid too raised the concern of lack of medical attention and the denial of access to his ongoing trial at the Appeal Court.

Tita Tebid, a businessman and a civil rights advocate are one of many extradited from neighboring Nigeria to stand trial regarding the Anglophone crisis.

He was arrested in Taraba State with 36 others and deported to Cameroon in 2018.
