Pregnant woman killed in Bamenda bar attack

Gun men alleged to be Amba fighters on the night of Saturday August 7th 2021, shot and killed two persons including a pregnant woman in a bar at A2 street Bamenda III.

Eyewitnesses say, it was at 9pm Saturday that two persons on a motor bike with locally made guns appeared and demanded to see the owner of the bar, whom they say was selling Brasseries du Cameroun drinks.

The owner of the bar was taken out and asked to get on the motor bike with them, which he did.

Upon getting on the bike however, the bar owner, reports say, then gripped the bike rider while shouting for help.

His five-months-old pregnant wife and his brother are said to have attempted to intervene, but were all shot and killed.

The bar owner popularly called Doctor, was shot on the arm. He was taken to the hospital after the gun men had vamoosed.

The corpse of the pregnant woman and that of her brother, the president of Mejung youths were taken to the mortuary at 2:00 AM breaking Sunday August 8th 2021.

The scene of incident is just few meters away from Gendarmerie brigade Ntambessi, and till 11am Sunday morning, elements of the brigade post, residents said had not visited the scene.
