Anglophone detainees make tear-provoking plea from Kondengui Prison

The Anglophone crisis has had thousands of casualties, some guilty, many others innocent.

The greater contingent of Anglophone detainees who have been arrested during the course of the crisis have been unjustly kept behind bars without trial.

Anglophone detainees at the Kondengui Central Prison have penned a letter calling on the International community and Cameroon authorities to respect the rule of law.

They write:
“We are southern Cameroonians.
“You may call us Ambazonians languishing behind bars for a crime we didn’t commit. Cameroun declared war but we refused to submit. Article 20 of the African charter gave us a reason to seek self determination.

“Aren’t we covered by human and peoples rights? Do research if we are guilty or stand for our rights. Who still doubts our innocence?

“We’re prisoners of conscience. The truth lies in our history. UN Resolution 1608 is a familiar story. All we ask is justice, Freedom, and our peoples rights. Right to Existence against Foreign Domination.

” Even as we write, Biya confessed in Paris of trying to assimilate us, yet you said nothing and he continues to hold us. These are the voices of prisoners of conscience.

“If you are reading this, do something. Don’t let this man hold us against ours consciences. Remember there’s a God who watches over us all and he is a Just God.
