U.K, U.S, Swiss and Canadian Embassies Condemn Attacks in NW, SW

Following the latest incident in Bamenda which saw police mistakenly shoot a school kid, the U.S, U.K, Canadian and Swiss Embassies in Cameroon have unanimously condemned violence against Anglophones in the North West and South West Regions.

The diplomatic missions of these nations made public statements on their Twitter accounts, condemning the acts. These condemnations also come at a time when the security situation of the North West and South West Regions has deteriorated immensely.

Recent weeks have been marred with numerous explosions in Buea. The most recent of them happened at the Amphitheatre 600, of the University of Buea, whereby 13 students got injured.

Reacting to these events, the U.S, U.K, Swiss and Canadian Embassies issued joint social media statements. They wrote, “Heads of Mission of @CanadaCameroon @SwissAmbYaounde @UKinCameroon @USEmbYaounde condemn attacks against civilians in #NWSW – particularly children & students – using IEDs or live ammunition, as well as death threats against CSO leaders working to finding solutions to the crisis.”

The U.S Embassy also reiterated its stance on seeking a peaceful resolution of the crisis, by proposing a dialogue with all stakeholders involved to be the best possible way forward.
