Another Chef Starts Marathon to Reclaim Nigeria’s Cooking Title

Tope Maggie, a Nigerian chef based in Ogbomoso, is gearing up for an extraordinary 200-hour cooking marathon. On Friday, hundreds of fans gathered in Ogbomoso to watch and cheer him up.

His move comes a few days after the Irish chef, Alan Fisher achieved the Guinness World Records (GWR) title for surpassing Nigeria’s chef Hilda Baci as the longest-cooking record holder. Chef Maggie has vowed to challenge the Irish cook and take the trophy back to Nigeria.

Alan Fisher officially clinched the title for the longest cooking marathon (individual), achieving an impressive 119 hours and 57 minutes, making headlines. Nigerian chef Hilda Baci held the previous record, which this remarkable feat exceeded. By clocking in at 47 hours and 21 minutes, Fisher broke Wendy Sandner of the USA’s previous record for the longest baking marathon (individual).

However, Tope Maggie has stepped up to the plate just days after Fisher’s record-breaking achievement, in the spirit of resilience and determination. Maggie is now poised to undertake an astounding 200-hour cooking marathon, with the goal of surpassing Fisher’s already remarkable record of 119 hours and 57 minutes.

The culinary world eagerly watches as Tope Maggie endeavours, which is not only a personal challenge but also a symbol of pride and aspiration for Nigeria. “What God cannot do does not exist; win our mandate back,” wrote King Israel on Instagram.

“We support you, Bro. Ride on,” commented Endy Light.

As Maggie carries on with his cooking marathon, Nigerians are eagerly anticipating his success and seeing if he can surpass the records set by his international counterparts and restore Nigeria’s name to the forefront of the global culinary stage.
