Another journalist murdered in Yaounde as gov’t hunts Martinez Zogo’s killers

As journalists in Cameroon continue to mourn journalist Martinez Zogo, another radio presenter was murdered at about 10pm on Friday, February 3, in Yaounde.

Rev. Jean Jacques Ola Bebe, a journalist who doubles as priest of the Orthodox Church of Cameroon was reportedly killed around Mimboman neighborhood in Yaounde, not far from his home.

His wife, Myriame, confirmed to media sources on Saturday morning that her husband had been killed, adding that he last came home about 5pm yesterday.

“Last night around 5pm he came home and told me he noticed people were following him and needed to get out of the house for a while. Very early in the morning, I got a phone call informing me that my husband passed away. When I saw his corpse, foam was coming out of his mouth,” Myriame is quoted to have said.

Her late husband is said to have been intolerant of injustice.

A few days earlier, he had condemned, during a television programme, the gruesome killing of journalist Martinez Zogo.

Jean Jacques Ola is being killed at a time when the government is hunting killers of Martinez Zogo, who was murdered and his mutilated body dumped on the outskirts of Yaounde on January 22.
