Antonio Conceicao Da Silva Oliveira replaces Clarence Seedorf sacked after Lions’ AFCON exit in 2019.

The 57 years old Portuguese with a UEFA Pro Licence was a Portuguese former footballer who played as a right back.

He will be assisted by François Omam Biyick.

He and his assistant were named in a communique by Sports and Physical Education minister, Narcisse Kombi Mouelle.

The documental also makes Clement Assimba the goal keepers’ trainer among others.

This comes amid reports that Gustavo Augusto Poyet Dominguez, 51-year-old Uruguayan football manager sealed the deal with Cameroon.

Antonio’s selection it should be recalled comes following several speculations by the media with former indomitable lion, Patrick Mboma highlighted as one of those most likely to get the job.

Antonio will be expected to reassemble a team that has for years been faved woth several issues including external influence from politicians and persons of influence.

Patrick Mboma left in the cold:
Patrick Mboma, former Cameroonian football striker and the former all-time top goal-scorer for the Cameroonian national team had deposited his application at the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education for the top job.

Recent developments shows he was not on Government’s list to play the role of lions coach or the assistant.

Former players of the national football team like Milla Roger backed his candidacy, saying “if nationals like Jean Paul Akono could do better, why not Mboma?”

Many have been quick to say the problem in the National Football Squad lies not in the trainer. According to them, the sector needs a total overhaul.
