Armed assailants kill Bamenda bar owner in cold blood

Bamenda, headquarters of the North West Region, was struck by tragedy in the evening of Saturday, January 20, as Solange Ngum Abanada, a bar owner in her 40s, fell victim to a fatal shooting incident by armed assailants in the Travellers neighbourhood.

Eyewitnesses described a horrifying scene when armed men forcefully entered Solange’s bar.

The armed assailants specifically targeted Solange, asking her, “Are you Solange?” A ruthless act that left her lifeless came after her affirmative response.

The aftermath of the attack revealed Solange covered in blood with a head wound, indicating a targeted gunshot.

Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries on the spot, leaving the community in shock.

Sources report that no armed group has claimed responsibility, leaving the motive behind this tragic incident unclear.

Civilians have been at the crossroads of increasing armed attacks in Bamenda, headquarters of the North West Region, which has been devastated by a seven-year armed conflict.

The conflict has heightened insecurity, with separatist groups and government forces often taking advantage of the chaos to victimise civilians.

This is a developing story, as MMI is hoping for updates from the authorities and looking to see if any group will claim responsibility for the killing.
