Armed men killed a civilian from Bali Nyonga, identified as Mr Bobga, after ambushing a bus at Bambui, on the road to Kom, in the North West Region.
Mr. Bobga was ambushed while reportedly travelling to visit his pregnant wife near an agric school, once owned by the late business magnate Pa Yong.
Witnesses report that armed individuals attacked travellers, seizing money, phones, and three vehicles in an operation that lasted approximately 90 minutes, causing significant traffic disruption.
Following the ambush, Mr. Bobga was abducted and subjected to severe torture.
Despite his family paying a ransom of approximately 1 million CFA francs, he succumbed to his injuries.
Victims noted that the perpetrators primarily communicated in the Nso language.
The incident has heightened fears about the ongoing insecurity on the Kom road, leaving residents mourning the loss of Mr. Bobga and grappling with the challenges of living in a conflict-hit area.
