Arsenal under pressure as Man City cruise to 3-1 victory over relegation-threatened Leicester City

Arsenal’s place at the top of the English Premier league has been further threatened after second place Manchester City cruised to another victory against Leicester City.

The pressure on Arteta’s side began with their draw against Liverpool over the weekend. City is now three points behind the league leaders and has a huge goal-difference advantage. The two sides meet on Wednesday 26 April at the Etihad.

Todays game further confirmed Manchester City as serious title contenders.

Three first-half goals were the difference as City defeated relegation-threatened Leicester 3-1 at the Etihad.

Stones’ stunning strike and a Haaland brace lay the groundwork for City’s victory as they let off the pace in the second half. Leicester equalized through Iheanacho, and things were looking tense near the end when Maddison wasted a superb one-on-one opportunity before Iheanacho struck the post in added time.

Leicester, however, stay in the relegation zone, while City maintains pressure and moves to within three points of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League.

Manchester City has won 11 of their previous 13 Premier League meetings against Leicester City (L2), including five straight since a 5-2 home setback in September 2020.

Manchester City have won their previous ten games in all competitions, with the Citizens only having two longer winning streaks under Pep Guardiola, one of 21 games between December 2020 and March 2021 and another of 11 games between August and October 2017 (11).

Leicester have won only two of their previous 16 Premier League games (D2 L12), and have lost eight of their last nine (D1) since a 4-1 victory over Tottenham in February.
