From his prison cell in Kondengui, CPDM Central Committee member and former Water and Energy Minister, Basile Atangana Kouna, recently made a fervent call on his Ngoumou brothers to massively plebiscite the CPDM list during the coming presidential elections on October 7.
Atangana Kouna has been in jail since March of this year over embezzlement of funds when he served as Minister in Cameroon. He had escaped to Nigeria to facilitate his movement out of Cameroon but he was caught. Many are questioning whether the ex-minister’s pro-regime campaign stems from loyalty or it is a means to win back the heart of Paul Biya.
Dozens of regime barons are in jail for swindling state fund. But they have been described by many as political prisoners.
