Ayos: Workers decry unjust lay-offs at Kalpataru Power Transmission Company

Several workers of the Indian-owned Kalpataru Power Transmission Company have expressed their anger and dissatisfaction with the company management for the maltreating them.

Apparently, a great majority of the company’s workers have been laid off by the company without any explanations or wages.

Some of the laid off workers say they had recieved letters from the management of the company alleging that they had stolen some of the company’s materials without clear proofs, thereby firing them from their jobs.

One of the company’s workers who got laid off some time ago revealed to MMI that he was accused by the company for having stolen fuel from one of its tankers, and was thereby sacked from his duty without enough proof.

Some days back, another worker called Nji Talla Emmanuel sustained an injury on his finger which was later cut off. He consequently realised his salary had been blocked by the company without prior notification. Last week, he was at the company with his family for a sit-in infront of the company gates.

Another case is equally that of Nyuoayou Michael, who reportedly had an accident with one of the trucks and was hospitalised. It was revealed to us that the driver who was in a critical condition at the hospital due to the accident was rather sacked by the company, and his salary blocked.

The aforementioned cases are just a few of numerous unjust contract terminations at the Ayos-based company.
The company has not yet reacted to these complaints from its former workers. More updates will however be brought forth should we have an official reaction from the company in question.
