Ayuk Tabe reacts to US congress letter, echoes calls for factfinding mission in Anglophone regions

Jailed Ambazonian Interim President/Leader, Julius Ayuk Tabe has responded to a letter from members of the US congress to President Paul Biya. Writing for Ayuk Tabe, Carson Anyangwe, Ambazonian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs noted that the past three years have been “a dark chapter in the history of the Southern Cameroons”.

With thousands dead and hundreds of thousands out of school and displaced, the interim Ambazonian leader stated that it is time to truly seek a solution.

“The people of Ambazonia and their leadership are open to meet and work on every genuine initiative offered by the international community led by credible and well meaning organisations and countries that not only seek peace to return to the region but above all seek justice for the people of Southern Cameroons,” he stated.

In this regard, he appealed to the US House of Congress to push for a factfinding mission to be sent, push for more sanctions on the Cameroon government, call for the immediate and unconditional release of leaders of the people of Southern Cameroon and “recognize the direct history and identity of the people of Southern Cameroon as different from that of French Cameroun”.

Ayuk Tabe’s response comes shortly after that of Dr. Samuel Sako who proposed similar measures be taken against the Cameroon government. US congress foreign affairs chairman, Eliot L. Engel has also called for a facts finding mission to be sent to Cameroon by the United Nations to investigate atrocities committed by all stakeholders in the ongoing Anglophone Crisis.
