Bafang: Two missing girls found at traditional herbalist’s home

Two girls said to have gone missing for over two weeks were discovered at the house of a traditional practitioner in Bafang, West Region of Cameroon.

The father of both kids believe his children aged 16 and 10 were kidnapped by the ‘traditional doctor’.

“They are my kids, it’s been two weeks since I started looking for them. The children left my house at night,” narrated the father of the two girls.

He added, “I thought it was their elder sister who had taken them out, but after several calls, i found out it was not the case. I don’t know how they got to this man’s compound.”

Meanwhile, the traditional Doctor says he was trying to help. He claims he found the two girls stranded by the roadside and realized one of them was sick.

According to him, “I was home when I received a call. As I went to the place I met with these kids sitting by the roadside. When I asked where their father was, they didn’t reply. I took them in and even noticed that the eldest was sick. I bought a fowl and prepared medicine to cure her,” narrated the traditional doctor.

Neighbors of the herbalist have described him as “very peaceful since he arrived in the locality.”

“I can say that I know him so well because he is a neighbor here… The man does not disturb because he attends to everyone. It’s the first time such is happening,” one of the neighbors said.

Security officials have opened investigations on the case — while, the ‘traditional doctor’ is currently under detention.
