Bafoussam: Authorities Wage War Against Illegal Wine Production

By Soulemanu Buba

Custom officials in Bafoussam, headquarters of the West Region of Cameroon have shut down an illegal factory producing Wines, Spirit and other alcoholic drinks dangerous to the human system.

The operation that led to the discovery of the said factory in Toungang was led by the head of the West Regional Custom Unit, Oumarou Sadou backed by security forces and some local authorities, Friday January 13,2023.

We gathered that some persons were taken for questioning and some of the machines carried away.

A similar incident occured in Bamenda in December 2022 when security forces raided two unlawful wine producing factories in Nkwen and arrested the owners for producing goods of doubtful qualities.

Such goods have flooded the markets at cheaper prices reason why many especially low income earners go for without thinking of how good the products are to the human body.
