Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration has officially receives renovated office of the divisional officer of Bafut subdivision in the North West region of Cameroon Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021.
Renovating the building, the department of civil engineering of the Rapid Intervention Battalion -BIR has equally constructed two watchtowers in the office premises to maximize vigilance.
Paul Atanga Nji has congratulated the BIR for braving all security challenges to renovate the building for administration to continue in the area. Note that all contractors have earlier turned down the project for security reasons leaving the BIR with no choice but to use their military and engineering process to good use.
The office was set ablaze in late 2018 by suspected separatists in a campaign to sabotage government structures and weaken its control over affairs in the anglophone regions of Cameroon.
To Diobe Elumba Didacus Elumba; divisional officer of Bafut subdivision, most documents of the office were burnt by the separatists in the course of the fire incident.
Ngwakongho Lawrence, Mayor of Bafut council has launched a call for sons and daughters of Bafut to collaborate in the process of peacebuilding.
With the renovation of the office, the government has failed to state strategies put in place to prevent further attacks by separatists.
