Balikumbat Population Urge Senator Kemende To Begin Charity At Home

After the news went viral that, Senator Barrister Kemende Henry Gamsey had seen his donation to courtrooms in the North West Region rejected by the Ministry of Justice, locals in his native Balikumbat have urged him to prioritize development projects in the village.

Some people in Balikumbat say health centers in the village are in dire need of equipment and that community schools need benches. As such, they call on Senator Kemende to equip the health centers and schools in Balikumbat instead of making donations to the courts in Bamenda.

They remind Kemende that in Cameroon, opposition parties are seen as enemies and anything that comes from them is bad news.

“Rather than taking something to where it will not be appreciated, why not take it to where it will be received with open hands,” a villager questions.

“We have community schools in Balikumbat that need benches and tables, health centers are in desperate need of equipment, many quarters don’t have water and electricity. Yet, goods worth more than FCFA 3 million were rather taken to the courtrooms. Thank God they were rejected. We would have received them with both hands if he had given us the opportunity to benefit from his pocket. Today, he is a laughing stock and that is good,” said Lena Mary, an indigene of Balikumbat.

Others have also frowned at the Senator for not looking back at those that elected them.
According to Samgwa’a, he was young was when his late father was always running behind the Social Democratic Front, the SDF, of Ni John Fru Ndi.

“My late father worked like a slave for the SDF. Today, those he worked for are better placed while many like him have been forgotten. It pains when you know the life your parents back home are living while those that are supposed to help reduce the hardship are rather acting strange,” said Samgwa’a. “Hope he is not expecting us to sympathize with him after he was humiliated by the Justice Ministry.”

Worthy of note is the fact that Senator Kemende, during a Press Conference last Sunday, said he spent more than FCFA 3 million, produced one hundred chairs and ten tables to gift courtrooms in the North West Region of Cameron. He regretted that the gifts were rejected by judicial authorities.

He lamented that the Minister of Justice, Minister of State Laurent Esso said the gesture was not necessary.
Many are those who have now called on Senator Kemende to transport the chairs and tables to Balikumbat given that schools and health centers are in need of such equipment.
