Balla’s Dismissal is Attempt to Shut Down Discussion on Atrocities in NW, SW says Wallenberg Center for Human Rights Legal Counsel

The international community is yet to get over the dismissal of Barrister Nkongho Felix Agbor from the University of Buea.

After the barrister who doubles as head of the center for Human Rights and Democracy, CHRDA was dismissed over an examination question on the Anglophone crisis, he has been receiving support from home and abroad.

Yonah Diamond, legal counsel at the Wallenberg center for human rights says Barrister Nkongho is a hero.

To him, this is because the lawyer “puts his life on the line to do everything from leading the Anglophone minority rights movement; to documenting mass atrocities in the Anglophone regions; to educating the public at home and abroad”

On twitter he accused the Cameroon government of attempting to stifle freedom of speech.

Government he wrote “is attempting to shut down any discussion of ongoing atrocities. Last week, government dismissed Agbor Nkongho from University of Buea for asking his students about the crisis that has claimed at least 3,000 lives and displaced a million.”

He adds that “Cameroon needs Felix’s leadership now more than ever, as violence continues despite Cameroon having the highest rate of COVID19 in central Africa.”
