Bambili soffocating under Eneo’s negligence

Bambili, a university town near Bamenda, has been without electricity for close to a week now.

Fallen poles and irregular load shedding has left most students stranded and many fleeling the area to main town Bamenda to be able to complete assignments and related school work.

In Bambili, like in other parts of the North West Region where households barely enjoy four hours of power supply daily, the complete collapse of these electric poles may leave inhabitants of Agric Street go for an unending period of blackout.

For days now, bike riders and pedestrians speed pass this area for fear of the falling pole dropping on them.

Apart from the falling poles, however, households in the region have been doomed to stay in darkness for over two years now.

The situation which has become a new normal has only left many a businessperson to resort to generators for survival despite the weaknesses using them.

ENEO, the electricity supply company in Cameroon has been using thermal plant in Bamenda which runs on fuel to power the entire region these years of blackout.

The company has no clear rationing timetable with power outages taking place at just any time

The only explanation ENEO has this far is that SONATREL is the company in charge of transportation of electricity in the country.

Series of meetings have been held with the regional boss championing them, bringing on board the ministry of Water and Energy, yet no glimpse of light is seen at the end of the tunnel.
