The construction of the road linking Babadjou in the West Region to Bamenda in the Northwest has been awarded to a new contractor by the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi. The announcement was made yesterday during a working session held at the Divisional Delegation of Public Works for the Bamboutos, in Mbouda, West Region. It was done in the presence of the Senior Divisional Officer for the Bamboutos, Franklin François Etapa.
The construction of Babadjou-Bamenda stretch of the road was launched in 2017 and has been experiencing several setbacks since then, ranging from the Anglophone crisis and lack of funds and material.
While the Babadjou-Bamenda stretch of the road continues experiencing these hurdles, the Yaoundé-Bafoussam-Babadjou section has been progressing well, while the Bamenda-Mamfe-Ekok stretch has been completed.
Taking to account the deficiencies of former contracted company, SOGEA SATOM, on the Babadjou-Matazem stretch, Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi of Public Works decided to mobilize a new contractor and a quality control firm for emergency works, under the supervision of the Regional Delegate for Public Works of the West.
Following heavy downpours after the meeting, the stakeholders surveyed road and examined the human and material resources necessary for the continuity of traffic in complete safety on this stretch of the road.
