Some supporters of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM , party in Bamenda North West region are using the party’s 37th anniversary today to celebrate its youth.
This, is the case of the CPDM Section President for Mezam IB, Cletus Anye Matoya who has described the party as gender-inclusive and youth sensitive.
“We have empowered a lot of youth and women. If you take the last election, you will see the number of young mayors because they have to learn to manage things as young men. So the young shall grow”, Matoya said.
“During elections, a quota is always given to make sure that the youth and women represent that quota”, he added.
For women, he disclosed that the party’s national chairman, President Paul Biya has given a lot of chances for women to take part in managing councils and even in parliament.
Information from the communication unit of the party in the North West indicates that an event to celebrate the 37th anniversary of the party will take place at the Bamenda Congress Hall today.
This will be under the leadership of the head of the North West Permanent Regional Delegation of the Central Committee of the Party, Philemon Yang.
The country’s ruling party was created in 1985 in Bamenda succeeding the Cameroon National Union, CNU, which dominated Cameroon’s politics since independence in the 1960s.
