Bamenda: Family raises alarm over daughter’s two-year-long ‘disappearance’

A family based in Bamenda, the capital of one of Cameroon’s troubled English-speaking regions says for over two years, all efforts to get to their daughter who went ‘missing’ have been futile.

Speaking to MMI, a close relative to Kiming Juliette, the lady in question says she was last seen on September 11, 2018.

“Nobody knows what actually happened but she took money from the credit union where she was working and disappeared,” he says, adding that they suspect she was influenced by money dealers.

While the family believes she has to account for the money she took with her, they say their top priority is her safety.

Their fear is heightened by the armed conflict in the regions that has seen thousands killed and hundreds of thousands living in misery and degrading conditions.

The relative adds that she was suspected to have taken the money to her lover who was later picked up by the forces of law and order for questioning.

“… Ndifor Ernest [the lover] was picked up after the matter was reported at the police station, and the State Council in Bamenda, and was picked up by the rapid intervention police and locked up for more than a week before he was bailed out,” our source said.

“The police,” he adds, “contacted MTN to track down his number and that of Juliette and discovered that they were in a constant conversation that fateful day till about 3:00PM when the bike dropped her with the same Ndifor Ernest”.
