Tragedy in Bamenda: Suspect Arrested in Death of Young Woman After Night Out

Authorities in Bamenda have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with the death of a young woman whose body was earlier found under troubling circumstances outside Mbingo Annex Hospital.

The victim has now been identified as 27-year-old Sarh, a resident of Baingo, bringing new clarity to a case that has shocked the Bamenda community.

Incident Linked to Wake Keep in Bamenda III

According to information gathered by MMI News, the events leading to Sarh’s death began on Banja Street in Bamenda III Subdivision, where she and the suspect, identified as Patrick, had attended a wake keep. Both were reportedly consuming alcohol prior to the incident.

Trouble is said to have started when Patrick asked Sarh to leave the gathering with him, but she refused. What followed, according to witness accounts, was a violent altercation.

Alleged Assault and Fatal Injuries

Sources indicate that Patrick allegedly assaulted Sarh during the confrontation, reportedly breaking her right arm. She is said to have lost consciousness shortly afterward.

Despite her critical condition, Patrick allegedly placed the unconscious woman on his motorbike in an attempt to transport her to a hospital.

However, both individuals were reportedly intoxicated, complicating the situation further. Witnesses say Sarh, already weakened, could not maintain balance on the motorbike. Her legs reportedly dragged along the tarred road, and she is believed to have fallen off multiple times during the journey.

Abandoned at Hospital, Declared Dead

Patrick eventually arrived at Mbingo Annex Hospital with the unconscious woman. Medical personnel later confirmed that she was dead on arrival.

In a disturbing twist, as hospital staff instructed him to proceed with mortuary formalities, the suspect reportedly fled the scene, abandoning both the body and his motorbike.

He later returned to the hospital, reportedly asking about the victim and expressing regret over his actions.

Victim Was Pregnant

Further findings by MMI News reveal that Sarh was approximately one month pregnant at the time of her death, adding another tragic dimension to the case.

Suspect in Custody, Investigation Ongoing

Patrick, described as a motorbike rider and builder, is currently in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities are expected to determine the exact cause of death and whether additional charges may be filed.

The incident has sparked renewed concerns over alcohol-related violence and the safety of women, particularly during late-night social gatherings.

MMI News will continue to follow developments and provide updates as more information becomes available.
