Barrister Tamfu Richard Harvests Best 2025 Human Rights Advocate Award in Egypt

Barrister Tamfu Richard, one of Cameroon’s most vibrant human rights lawyers, has seen his work pay off.

His fearlessness in pursuing justice for the downtrodden and the oppressed has earned him recognition as one of Africa’s best human rights advocates for 2025.

“I feel overwhelmed and honoured to be recognised as one of the best Human Rights Advocates in Africa 2025 under the category of Law by the African organisation FORTY UNDER 40 Africa,” Barrister Tamfu stated after receiving the award.

This was during a ceremony that took place in Egypt recently.

They nominated him in the law category alongside Zama Winnie Mbali from South Africa and Brian Muriithi Muthomi from Kenya.

He was also among four nominees from Cameroon and 93 from Africa.

Barrister Tamfu has stood his grounds defending people unjustly detained, especially in the ongoing armed conflict in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon.

Dedicates Award to Marginalised Anglophones

Although Tamfu received the award for his personal efforts, he dedicated it to his fellow human rights advocates and the marginalised Anglophone community in Cameroon.

“I can only say thank you to the organisers and to God Almighty for the strength. I dedicate this award to the TAMFU & Co. LAW FIRM team, the Cameroon Bar Association, my family, and the marginalised Anglophone community in Cameroon whose rights I’ve been fighting for since the outbreak of the senseless conflict that erupted in 2016.”

An Encouragement to Continue

After securing the prestigious international award, Barrister Tamfu expressed his unwavering determination to fight against injustice in Cameroon.

The award further bolsters his commitment to change humanity by standing up for those whose rights have been trampled upon.

“I promise to continue committing myself to justice, the promotion of the rule of law, and peace for a better Cameroon and the world at large,” he said.

Barrister Tamfu Richard received the Forty Under 40 Africa Awards, which identifies, honours, and celebrates a cross-section of Africa’s most influential and accomplished young business leaders under the age of 40 from various industries.

Its purpose was also to recognise and celebrate emerging leaders under the age of 40. These are those who demonstrate or impact personally and/or professionally through their exceptional leadership.
