Some 15 mourners recently abducted in Ashong,a locality in Batibo,Momo division of the restive North West region have been freed.
They regained freedom Friday January 6, 2023, following their abduction on Thursday January 5, 2023.
Sources say they were kidnapped and taken to Ewai as they arrived the area to bury their grand mother.
Locals say the act was carried out by suspected armed separatist fighters.
No armed group in Batibo has however claimed responsibility.
Though the mourners were released, reports say the Sub Chief of the area, James Taboh is still held in captivity.
