Four persons have died at the Intensive Care unit of the National University Hospital Center of Benin, due to a power outage.
The tragic incident occurred on Friday, October 7, 2022 in the institution known as one of the oldest hospitals in the country.
The power outage reportedly provoked a malfunction in the intensive care unit, which led to the death of the four patients.
Reacting to the sad incident, the Country’s Health Minister, Benjamin Hounkpatin described the situation as “serious”, expressing his condolences to the families of the victims.
“The Minister of Health offers his condolences to the families of the 4 compatriots who died in the resuscitation service of the CNHU-HKM in Cotonou,” He said.
According to reports, measures are being put in place by the country’s authorities to avoid a similar incident.
