Bishop Michael Bibi Preaches Peace and Unity in 2025 Lenten Message

In his Lenten Message, the Bishop of Buea, His Lordship Michael Bibi, has called on Christians to embrace Lent 2025 as a time of spiritual renewal, emphasizing faith, unity, and acts of charity.

The Lenten message titled Journeying Together in Hope saw the Bishop reflect on Lent as an “interior pilgrimage” where believers surrender to God’s guidance amid life’s trials. He shared his personal testimony of divine protection after surviving an accident on February 28 while traveling for the consecration of Bishop Justin Georges Ebengue in Yokadouma.

“Lent, being a time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, we ought to bring our lives to bear on our brothers and sisters in a special way,” Bishop Bibi said.

“Journeying together means consolidating the unity grounded in our common dignity as children of God,” the Bishop quoted the book of Galatians chapter 3 verse 26.

Acknowledging the struggles of displaced persons, the poor, and those yearning for peace, Bishop Bibi reminded the faithful of Pope Benedict XVI’s words: “God does not allow darkness to prevail.” He also encouraged Christians to deepen their prayer life, practice fasting, and extend acts of love to those in need.

Quoting Pope Francis, Bishop Bibi stressed that journeying together means fostering unity and ensuring no one is left behind. As part of the Jubilee of Hope, he announced a diocesan Lenten pilgrimage to Bonjongo on April 5, urging parishes and families to engage in spiritual exercises and works of mercy.

The message concluded with a prayer for Mary, Mother of Hope, to intercede for all during this season of grace.
