Biya donates 181 MFCFA to Indomitable Lions for Qatar qualifications

The President of the Republic of Cameroon, Paul Biya has ordered the disbursement of the sum of 181 million FCFA (293592.86 Dollars) to the Indomitable Lions, for qualifying to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, has revealed in a dispatch to the Lions’ captain, Vincent Aboubakar.

The offer, according to Mouelle Kimbi is in line with a promise made by the Head of State prior to the play-offs to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

“I have the honour to inform you that due to the brilliant qualification of our national team for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Head of State has given his accord for an exceptional prize to be given to the Lions,” the Sports minister indicated in the letter.

The minister specified that the 181 million FCFA will be disbursed from the ministry’s account and distributed directly into their accounts, in accordance to the rules of partition.

The technical staff of the Indomitable Lions will also benefit from the presidential offer.

The offer follows Cameroon’s win on aggregate win over the Fennecs in Blida, Algeria after suffering from an earlier narrow defeat on home soil in March this year.
