Biya posthumously decorates Ni John Fru Ndi, ‘Grand cordon of the Cameroon Order of Merit’.

The President of the Republic of Cameroon Paul Biya has decorated the late Ni John Fru Ndi as the ‘grand cordon of the Cameroon Order of Merit.’

This was Saturday, July 29, 2023, in Baba II village Santa, Mezam division of the North West region during the burial of the fallen leader of the one-time main opposition political party in Cameroon, the Social Democratic Front, (SDF).

President Paul Biya who decreed an official burial for the statesman was represented at the burial by Jean Nkuete, Secretary General of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, (CPDM), who is also deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Cameroon.

“In the name of the president of the republic and by the virtue of powers vested in me, we hereby posthumously raise you to the dignity of the grand cordon of the Cameroon Order of Merit,” declared Jean Nkuete representing the head of state, as he placed a medal on the casket carrying the late Fru Ndi.

Amongst other state dignitaries present were former Prime Minister Philemon Yang at the head of a CPDM delegation, North West governor Adolf Lele L’Afrique, and the Public Independent Conciliator of the North West region, Simon Tamfu
