Biya Promotes Police Commissioner, Others In Presidential Decrees


The President of Cameroon, Paul Biya, has signed a decree, promoting Onyong Onyong Maurice from the rank of police commissioner to principal police commissioner.


On Thursday, April 25, President Biya signed a series of decrees promoting others and reorganising the commission for drugs and consumables in the Central African country.


“In application of the provisions of articles 158 and 159 of decree no. 2012/539 of November 19, 2012, mentioned above, the Police Commissioner ONYONG ONYONG Maurice, Mle 599 403-Z, holder of the Technical Diploma of Higher Police Qualification (DTQSP), benefits from the advancement rank of Principal Police Commissioner 6th step, index 870, from August 20, 2022, with removed seniority,” read the decree.

The decree added that the state would be responsible for any costs associated with the new rank.


“The Minister of Finance and the General Delegate for National Security are each responsible, as far as it is concerned, for the execution of this decree, which will be registered, published according to the emergency procedure, and then inserted in the Official Journal in French and English,” article 3 of the decree read.

The president also promoted Perevete Zacharie to the board chair of the Garoua General Hospital.

Among others appointed are Representative of the Presidency of the Republic, Ewusi Elinge Susanne Enjema; Representative of the Prime Minister’s Office, Abdoul Raoufi Dewa;

Representative of the Ministry in charge of Public Health, Ousmane Diaby; and Representative of the Ministry in charge of Finance, Hayatou Sanda.


President Paul Biya also signed another decree in which he reorganised the National Supply Centre for Essential Drugs and Consumables.
