Tragedy in the Moungo: Body of Missing 3-Year-Old Found Tied Up in a Well

A wave of shock and grief has swept through a village in the Moungo Division, after the lifeless body of a 3-year-old girl, identified as Gaby, was discovered in a water well — days after she went missing under mysterious circumstances.

According to local reports, little Gaby had disappeared on Thursday, November 6, 2025, triggering a massive search operation by villagers. Residents scoured the area, searching through wells, bushes, and nearby pits, but found no trace of the child that day.

It was not until Saturday that the heartbreaking discovery was made. The child’s body was found tied with a rope, hands bound, and showing clear signs of violence. Witnesses say she was bleeding from the forehead, where she appeared to have been struck with a stone before being thrown into the well.

In a video shared by journalist Alain Bertrand, the child’s mother, her voice trembling with pain, recounted the unbearable tragedy that has left the entire community in shock. The mother described how days of desperate searching turned into horror when villagers pulled her daughter’s body out of the water.

The gruesome incident has raised questions about the safety of children in rural communities and the growing wave of ritual-related killings that have been reported in parts of the country. Residents are now calling on authorities to open an urgent investigation to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice.

As the village mourns the loss of little Gaby, many are demanding stronger government intervention and community vigilance to prevent such acts from ever happening again.
